Photography
The Photography Committee consists of several members committed to documenting all activities and events associated with the Fashion Show. In addition, we also plan and stage backdrops for committee photos and other fashion show events. Finally, we document every garment that comes through the show, from Judging Day to backstage to their final reveal on the runway! For the Fashion Show, we took 71.5 GB worth of photos. That's over 25,000 photos!
Public Relations
The Public Relations Committee does all outreach for the show! Our committee has been working with social media to set up eight giveaways for this year from local brands. We also have sent out around 40 media kits developed by our producers to local companies. The media kit offers different advertising options for brands to help give both us and them exposure! We have been planning our fashion week event! It will be in the innovation center, and we plan on having trivia. We've contacted local news stations and newspapers and planned what events they can come to for exposure! Recently, we have started the process of press passes and figuring out who will get those for the show! We've been collaborating with visual merchandising and communicating with a company on Main Street that is making a display for fashion week.
Set Design
The Set Design committee is responsible for the conceptualization, design, and construction of the set for The Fashion Show. At the beginning of the semester, the team collaborates creatively by creating mood boards and developing concepts for the two sets. These concepts are then used to create the final sets for the show. Once the design is finalized, materials are ordered, and the committee begins working on the building space. During the build process, which takes place three nights a week, the team confronts challenges, experiments with techniques, and works towards achieving the desired design. As the showtime approaches, the team installs the two sets at Stephens, marking the culmination of their efforts. Finally, the excitement peaks as the vision is brought to life on stage! Set Design works closely with Finance for material purchases, with Art to follow the show's theme guide, and with Modeling to integrate new ideas for model interaction with the set.
Social Media
The Social Media Committee assists in content creation across all social channels to create a strong and uniform brand identity for The Fashion Show 2024. We collaborate in a team environment to brainstorm unique, innovative ways to increase engagement and reach on social media. We also create Reels, TikTok, and other videos to get a larger audience and work with many other TFS committees to advertise all their events online! We have recently been up to posting TFS events and advertisements, more lifestyle content, and Fashion photos, such as Fit Check Fridays. We recently revamped TikTok and tried to post videos that stay on top of what is trending.
Special Events
Special Events organizes five events throughout the semester. TFS x TREND Gala is an event that brings together members of both TREND and TFS for a fun and interactive time! TFS Launch Party is an event dedicated to the 2024 Fashion Show Guest Designer launch. Meet the Judges is a networking event held to get a chance to meet the Guest Judges and learn about their career paths. Fashion Week Event partners with other organizations on campus to provide a fun activity for those involved with TFS to enjoy themselves and interact as it gets close to showtime! Fashion's Night Out is an event dedicated to celebrating TFS. Special events job is to secure event locations, decorate events, select food and beverage for each event, complete event authorizations, collaborate with other TFS committees and on-campus organizations, brainstorm ways to increase attendance and involvement at events, and heighten excitement around TFS!
Visual Merchandising
Visual Merchandising oversees the more extensive advertising displays, such as the Lebaron Case display. Usually, a parks library is installed, but this year, we decided to branch out to other high-foot traffic areas like the Memorial Union. Finally, we collaborate with communities outside of ISU, like small businesses in Ames, such as Oak Lane Candle CO, where we look forward to putting up a display soon!
